Top Restaurants In Portmagee

After a lovely day in the sunshine (hopefully) by the sea, it can be tiring and hopefully gives you a big appetite. But, perhaps you’re struggling to find the perfect restaurant to take your family, friends or loved one in Portmagee. Hopefully, the following top five (in no particular order!) list comes in handy when searching for the right place to hit the right spot:

The Moorings Restaurant

Right on the ocean’s doorstep, this lovely restaurant offers freshly caught and prepared fish and seafood cuisines alongside locally grown vegetables. Starters include soup of the day, smoked salmon, pate, smoked chicken or mushrooms. Mains offer the likes of free range chicken, steak, seafood platters or hake fillets. Additionally, The Moorings Restaurant welcomes children and also offer services for events such as weddings, birthdays or christenings. A perfect venue to watch the sun set along the harbour!

The Oratory Gourmet Pizza and Wine Bar

Unlike most restaurants, The Oratory Gourmet Pizza and Wine Bar has a twist. It used to be a church and remains that way with stunning stained glass windows and church tower still in place. This is the perfect restaurant for a romantic evening. Opening from 5pm to 10pm, they offer various pizzas and Italian cuisines which perfectly fits in to the romantic setting. They also offer gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options which helps a large range of customers. Pizzas vary from your typical margaritas to the daring ‘Blue Peach’ pizza. They offer takeaway and services for special events.

The Bridge Bar @ The Moorings

Owned by The Moorings, The Bridge Bar is more of a relaxed venue – much like your typical pub. They have the same menu as The Moorings, however it’s much more casual.

The Fisherman’s Bar

If you’re after a salty, seafood cuisine, then look no further than the Fisherman’s Bar. Open from 9am to 1am, the bar offers traditional fish and chips fresh from the surrounding port. Furthermore, it’s a great place for friends to spend the time in a chilled-out facility and grab some food and alcoholic beverages, especially with the late-night opening, you won’t want to move for a while! It’s wheel-chair friendly and child friendly throughout the day. It also offers a beautiful view of the port!

The Fertha Bar

This is a great place if you’re after a typical Irish bar. The Fertha Bar offers homemade Irish Stew, bacon chops with cabbage, Atlantic Seafood Chowder and a range of salads and wraps. Additionally, if you’re after a simple coffee, they offer various teas and coffees, too. They even offer quirky hot chocolates, such as the ‘Strawberry Skilligs Hot Chocolate’ for the daring of customers who want to try something new. The Fertha Bar hosts live music in its typical bar atmosphere, for you to enjoy with classic alcoholic beverages such as a range of beers and wines, cocktails or even a bottle of bubbly! It’s positioned between the hills and the sea for a great view.
